To help you make the most of your ABLE account, we’re exploring a newer and more exciting prepaid card option for our customers. While we explore these options, we will begin phasing out the current prepaid card program. As of April 1st, no new customers may apply for a prepaid card.
I have a prepaid card, now what?
Until June 1st, your prepaid card account will continue to function as usual. On June 1st, you will no longer be able to add money to the card or request a new card. You will have until the end of the day on June 30th to spend the balance of your prepaid card account.
What happens after June 30th?
After June 30th, your prepaid card account will be closed and any money remaining in your account will be mailed to you via check (free of charge) by July 15th. If you’d like to request that your prepaid card account be closed sooner please contact customer service.
You will continue to have access to your card activity after June 30th.
Is there anything I need to do now?
Make sure the mailing address on your account is correct. This is where the check with any money remaining in your prepaid card account will be sent.
If you need a replacement card or you want to add money to your card account, make sure you request it before June 1st.
What about fees?
As a courtesy, the following fees will be waived from April 1st until the program closes on July 1st:
Paper statement fee
Balance refund paper check fee
